I Once Dreamed a Dream

I Once Dreamed a Dream
Of a beauty beyond compare
She had the eyes of a dream
and the wind as her hair

It was a pleasent dream this dream I dreamed

Of warmth and joy, happiness too
and all those fairytalle things
to have been recieved by you

But even a child knows that fairytales are not true
That there are no dragons, wizards, or witches with their secret brews

And yet I still dreamed this dream so true
This dream I dreamed was of you

And now they say
it's her loss anwyway

For the love you have is strong and pure
And only a fool would be so demure'

But these words give little comfort if any
For the loss to me I know is many

And so pain I feel
Even still
When I think about what would

What could.....

If only you knew
To you alone I'd be true

To wipe the tears from you cheek so soft
And make you smile when you felt aloft

And everything about me you'd know
Even how I lied about my secret identity and so

That all those stupid things are nothing to me
That the real and true secret lies deep within my soul you see

For the real secret is how.......

We would have combed the globe for the finest books
And put them in our library I'd made for you
The Library with the Thousand looks

Or so I'd call it

For I'd make it specially so I could see
your eyes through the small crack above the books
you know those little nooks

And how after a days work
You'd come home to roses and candles adorned by the masses
And you'd know this would be no perk

And as the time passes my love would you feel grow
Stronger than ever, an eternal flame of no foe

In our house we'd created
Would rest a grand piano you see
And you could play it whenever your heart desired for me

Beside the piano would sit your trumpet so new
A surprise for no reason from me to you
And happy it would make me
Just a smile that's all I'd need to view

Just a smile.....

Such a simple thing
But my day would it brighten too true
For all I'd really need is you

And all these things would I do for you
Not because I'd have to
Just because I'd love you

So many things would have been instore

My love
My passion
And oh so much more

A shoulder to cry
A teary goodbye

A smile from my face
A warm embrace

A tender kiss
Yes....
A kiss only for you......
My miss

And I would shout from the rooftops on high
That "I Love This Girl" and it wouldn't be a lie

For love you I would
And love you I could

I would have given up eternity
For a smell of your hair
Or even but a touch on my face from you
If only had you let me through

Some people only dream of a love so true
A love I could have given to you

But friends forever shall we be
And never these things will you know from me

And maybe someday you'll see
Just how much you could have ment to me

And how happy we would have been
Simply because I'd love you

And I know that there's more to love than just happiness
But anything I couldn't find in you I wouldn't miss

For if our love were true
Than all you'd really need is me
And all I'd really need is you

It was a pleasent dream
This dream I dreamed of love so true

This dream of love......

This dream of you

this dream you dreamt is to good to be true, it's idealistic and unreal...although it is a beautiful poem I must admit

Yes I completely agree with you and I realise now that it is quite unreal. I wrote it out of a deep pain that I felt because of a relationship gone astray. In retrospect probably more self-pity than sadness, but hey..that's how it goes, thanx for the imput Anon, I really appreciate it.
