Kingdom Come
Within a field of grass, vast
Beyond the borders of the eye,
There grows a red flower
Beauty held in the mind of
The villagers thereby.
One singular flower
Amongst many a blades of grass.
And somewhere else
Beyond the hills, where the
Pastures are the same,
Though the villagers differ
Grows a blue flower
Ugly in the sight of the neighbours
But beautiful in the mind of
The villagers thereby.
Slowly
Ever so slowly
Over ages of millenia
Pastures revisted reveals
A Kingdom of Flowers
Sprouted all over
Suffocating the grass,
They are lame, dull, hunted
Persecuted for not
Adhereing the beauty of
The Flowers beautiful in the minds of
The villagers thereby.

This is so great, I like knowing that I can interact with the poet directly. What exactly is the underlying tone in this poem. I could throw a bunch of hypothesies and assumptions in but, I'm wondering what you intended it to say?
it's in reference to a passing comment made by Jakub Valsson in Doctrine II class today... Well I don't remember the comment, but it painted the picture of how in North America, this intense need for women's equality is a trait of the Kingdom of God, and that the Kingdom of God knows no borders, and IS HERE and also IS COMING.
Then the thought struck me that there may be things in other cultures that are of the Kingdom of God, for example, the strive for discipline in Asian culture is a trait of the Kingdom of God, however we in N.America do not value discipline so much, so it is a flower we do not recognize so easily.
Valsson then said something like that the Kingdom of God will phase out the worldly kingdoms, and I was fed an image of the grass being choked out by the flowers, and that now they had intermingled, all growing in unity.
...I feel a part 2 coming on haha.
That's awsome. So many times I feel like english teacher throw meaningless crap into poems to make them sound interesting. I like knowing that the poem was originally written to be interesting.
i thoroughly enjoy telling the teachers that they're full of crap, that the poem could mean anything and nothing, and that to mark my exam wrong for saying "no particular message conveyed" is a LOAD...
